Topeka — Kansas Attorney General Steve Six is easily surpassing political rivals in fundraising as he campaigns to stay in office.
The Democratic incumbent reported Monday his campaign raised $235,000 from Jan. 1 through July 22. That brought his total fundraising to $819,000.
Six faces no opponent in the Aug. 3 Democratic primary.
Seeking the Republican nomination are state Senate Majority Leader Derek Schmidt, of Independence, and Junction City prosecutor Ralph DeZago.
Schmidt reports raising just more than $85,000 this year for his campaign, bringing his total to almost $223,000.
DeZago raised about $1,500 this year, bringing his campaign total to about $7,700. But he also contributed about $4,100 of his own funds to his campaign this year.
